Identifying routes, stops

http://www.baynews9.com/content/36/2010/2/3/578647.html?title=Five%20sites%20approved%20for%20high-speed%20rail%20stop%20in%20Polk&cid=rss

Both proposed light rail and high-speed rail systems are still under study, so we don't know exactly where routes will be located or stations built. The link above raises these issues in the case of Lakeland.

These decisions will have a huge impact on all kinds of land use, development, and environmental concerns. Real estate values will be affected as well. You can think about the many planning issues that will emerge around any proposed rail routes.

  1. PS as you might have noticed I'm having a terrible time getting links to appear as links! If anyone has any advice let me know.

  2. It will be interesting to see what they do as far as public transportation at each stop. To me, that is going to make or break the high speed rail. There will need to be a good system of mass transportation in place as far as buses etc. to get people to where they need to go in little time. And taxis seem to be too expensive for the average American.

  3. Tyler, I completely agree with you. In Lakeland I assume that will involve a bus system; both Tampa and Orlando are trying to build light rail systems that could hook up to the bullet train.
